Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Mrs. Neigel’s services, because I have to return to school in Massachusetts this weekend.
Mrs. Neigel was one of the nicest people I have ever known.
As a little girl, I remember admiring how she collected so many different salt and pepper shakers. My mother and I found a King Kong and Empire State Building set for Mrs. Neigel one Christmas and she was so surprised when she opened the gift.
She was an incredibly kind and thoughtful person and I can remember my favorite birthday gift from her, when I was a child. It was a necklace that had a little Dalmatian puppy pendant. She knew I loved “101 Dalmatians”, but I don’t know how she found me a present that was so unique.
When my grandmother, Dolly, passed away in 2011, Mrs. Neigel sent me the nicest letter explaining how she still missed her husband Bill, but that she knew he was still with her, the same way my grandmother would still always be with me.
I loved speaking with Mrs. Neigel, whether it was at my Aunt Bridget and Uncle Dave’s house, at my cousin Dean’s graduation party, or even over the phone during her 90th birthday party this year. It was always an interesting and pleasant conversation.
She was never one to forget anyone or anything and never missed acknowledging my birthday with a special card.
God bless you, Mrs. Neigel. I will miss you. Please say hello to my Nonni and Poppy for me.
