Bronislawa (Dawidowicz) Roskowinski age 95 of Hayes, VA, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on November 20, 2015. Bronislawa was born on February 9, 1920 in Wolyn, Poland to Alexander and Teofila Dawidowicz. She married her loving husband Stanislaw Roskowinski in 1940 and together they escaped to Germany due to World War II. They lived from 1942 until 1947 in American displacement towns. With her family, she moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1947 and lived there until 1958. They then moved to Sayreville NJ.
Bronislawa and her husband Stanislaw retired in 1984 to Newport News, VA near their daughters Leokadia Mayer and Wanda Pollard. She enjoyed being by her children and grandchildren, collecting antiques, gardening, cooking, sewing, fishing and trips to the Casino.
She is predeceased by her husband Stanislaw Roskowinski of 47 years in 1986, and a second husband Andy Stroup of 5 years in 2000. She is also predeceased by her parents Alexander and Teofila Dawidowicz, her daughter Sofia Roskowinski, her sisters Eva Mitera and Frances Jacino and her brother Bronislaw Dawidowicz.
Surviving are her children Roman Roskowinski and his wife Sophie of Sayreville NJ, Leokadia Myers of Newport News VA, Donna Vash and her husband George of Homosassa FL, Wanda Pollard and her husband Joseph of Gloucester VA, and her beloved 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville with a 9am funeral mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at St. Stan’s Cemetery in Sayreville.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4pm to 8pm.
