Obituary for Panagiotis "Peter" Giannakopoulos
South River
Panagiotis “Peter” Giannakopoulos, age 46, of South River, passed away Friday June 12, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Freeport, New York he had resided in South River most of his life. Peter was formally employed as a loan officer for 5 years at Heritage Mortgage in Morristown.
He is predeceased by his parents Ilias & Petriani Giannakopoulos. Surviving are his daughter Rachel Jayne Giannakopoulos and her mother Lisa Meyer of Sayreville, his brother Nick Giannakopoulos and his wife Cindy of South River, his sister Diana Procopio of Cotuit, MA. and his nephews Zachary and Dean.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 10 am service at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy with burial to follow at Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery, South River.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm. Prayer services will be held Tuesday 7pm at the funeral home. Letters of condolence, directions and completed arrangements can be found at www.maliszewskifuneralhome.com
