Joseph W. Wojtowicz, age 79 of Parlin, passed away Friday February 27, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, he had lived in Parlin for the past 12 years. Before his retirement, Joseph worked for the Hillside Department of Public Works and for Brendan Byrne Arena as a concession worker for many years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War Conflict and a communicant of St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. Joe was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5088, the Elks Lodge 2004, and the American Legion Post 211.
He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Josephine, his son Michael, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years Priscilla nee Mayes, his children and their spouses Karyn and Wes Norton of PA, Heidi Farley of Parlin, Andrew and Lisa of Parlin, his grandchildren Emily, Morgan, Paige, Sean, Jason, Stevie, and Jessica, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday 9am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with a 9:30am mass to follow at St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. Burial will take place at the NJ Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka KS 66675.
