Elizabeth Marrazo (Bette)
Sayreville, NJ –
Elizabeth (Bette) Marrazo, 97, went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 13, 2014. She passed into Heaven peacefully in her sleep which is exactly how she always wanted her passing to be. Bette was a former communicant of Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church in Sayreville, New Jersey.
Bette grew up in South River, New Jersey and worked in her parent’s variety store until she became a telephone operator which she fully enjoyed. Bette met her husband August (Dusty) Marrazo at a friend’s wedding; they fell in love and were married in 1946. Bette and August resided inParlin, New Jersey and Bette became a stay at home Mom and raising three wonderful children, Dr. Martin Marrazo, Halfmoon, NY, Mr. Robert Marrazo, Sayreville, NJ and Mrs. Linda Phibbs, Saratoga Springs, NY. Bette always took care of so many other people, never giving a thought to her own needs. She was a selfless, loving person and volunteered her time to charity, collecting food and clothing for the homeless and underprivileged for many years. She loved her volunteer job as an aide, helping special needs children on a school bus until her late 80's.The children called her Grandma Bette and they loved her as much as she loved them.
Besides being a wonderful homemaker, Bette enjoyed singing, drawing, decorating, bingo and gardening. At the age of 89, Bette would get on her hands and knees and plant over one hundred flowers for her daughter Linda. Bette eventually called Wesley Nursing Home in Saratoga her home for eight years and found happiness there. The family wants to thank the wonderful, attentive staff at the Wesley Health Care Center and the staff at Hospice who cared for Bette and helped her feel safe and loved.
