Obituary for Wayne J McCormack

Sayreville
Wayne J. McCormack, 70, of Sayreville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Born in South Amboy he resided in Sayreville for the past 40 years. Wayne was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in South Amboy and after graduation was employed as a Freight Agent with the Raritan River Rail Road.

He was an active member of the community and his church. He served for more than 30 years as a local Poll Clerk; was a member of the Sayreville Board of Health and was a 25 year member of the Local Board of Selective Service System. He was also a member of the Raritan River Rail Road Historical Society and the NRHS. Wayne taught CCD confirmation classes for 25 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville. In 2003, Wayne was chosen by Church Officials to become a member of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and elevated to the rank of Commander with Star. Wayne joined the Knights of Columbus Council 2061 in 1989, became Grand Knight in 1994 and continued his dedication to the Knights, serving as 4th Degree Faithful Navigator and on the State organizational level as District Deputy, State Warden and ultimately State Secretary.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Audrey and John McCormack. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Carol Niemiera McCormack, his faithful canine companion, Sadie; his siblings and their spouses John & Sandra McCormack, MaryLou & Bob Sabo; Michael & Patricia McCormack; Susan & Joseph Coakley: Kevin & Patricia McCormack; and Rory & Phyliss McCormack and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may offer condolences Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin. A funeral mass will be held Monday December 22, at 9:30am at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.
